Jerusalem is a Jerusalem-based Soccer Club operating as a
non-for-profit organization entirely owned by its
fans, the club’s trustees.
Since its establishment in 2007, each and every year, the fans vote and select
the club’s Board of Directors whose members (volunteers) are responsible for its
everyday management. The fans also approve the annual budget, which constitutes
the economical frame for the work of the Board of Directors.
Against all odds, Hapoel Katamon
Jerusalem gained promotion to Israel’s Soccer League Second Division (“Leumit”)
after successive promotions (4 divisions in 7 years). Today the team plays in
the Third Division (“League one”).
Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem has an
agenda realized through a number of influential initiatives
which are closely connected to the team’s participation in the soccer league. As
a fan and as a trustee, being a member of Hapoel Katamon’s community means being
deeply involved in its social activities in accordance with the Club’s Social
Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem was
established with a strong social-oriented vision of educating nonviolence in
sport; fighting against discrimination and racism; enhancing internal dialogue
between different sectors and groups of Israel’s society; and facilitating
inclusive community of fans open to all segments of society.
We promote equality – our programs are open to all children living in
Jerusalem, regardless of religion, ethnical background or gender
We actively advance
co-existence between Jews and Arabs
as well as closer ties between secular and religious Jews
We provide high-quality
education for children from disadvantaged
We fight racism and violence on and
off the pitch
Jerusalem promotes these values by working closely with children, youth and
young adults, through 6 targeted social
programs, thus benefiting the
communities and the Israeli society as a whole.
“Although we meet each other
on a regular basis at Hapoel Katamon’s Neighborhood League, our friends from
Beit Hanina, once in every week, cross the main road between our two
neighborhoods and come to play with us at Pisgat Zeev’s football pitch. Until we
joined the Neighborhood League, we didn’t know anyone from Beit Hanina, but now
we do! It’s funny that we live so close to each other and until now
haven’t met. It’s great to play soccer with them, they are really good and they
make us better!”

Pisgat Ze’ev’s children team, participating in our Neighborhood League’s leading
social program. June 2014)
